Damn! I Should Have Looked For Student Summer Jobs!

Does this sound familiar? You wake up with a blistering hang-over. You crawl out of bed and drag your sorry ass to the nearest cash machine. You check the balance, really not wanting to see the damage you inflicted on your account the previous evening. Then it hits you, “Why the hell didn’t I start looking for student summer jobs? Leeds has loads of jobs. A few extra quid in my pocket would have made all the difference…. Well at least for about five minutes!”

It’s time to take a deep breath and relent to what you had been putting off for as long as possible, getting yourself a part time summer job. It’s a thought that may send shivers down the spine of some students having spent the last few months hitting the town four nights a week and waking up at three in the afternoon, but getting a student job in Leeds isn’t as bad as it may first seem, and actually has loads of perks that you may not even think of on first thought.

Firstly, there’s the simple fact that you’re actually going to be earning cold hard cash. Good enough reason for plenty of people to part with a few of their spare hours every week, but there’s always more to it than that. If you manage to hook yourself up with a part-time job in a high street store, chances are that you’ll be getting some sort of employee discount, which is a great way to make the money you’ve earned go even further. You’re also going to be working with a bunch of new people, some of which may be working for the same reason as you, so it can turn out to be a great place to meet new people and make new friends.

There are loads of different jobs in Leeds that you can get to fit around your Uni timetable and that won’t intrude on your free time to much either. Some good places to look for summer jobs that are always looking for part time workers are bars and restaurants, high street shops, call centers and even delivering for takeaways (If your fortunate to have your own car that is!).

Bottom line – you do what you have to. If you find yourself a student summer job in Leeds, there’s a good chance it will not be enough to distract you from the student life too much!
